Lower Level Renovation
Well the work has begun on renovation of the lower level of the Church. The painting will be finished by early in the week of July 4 and we hope to start work on the new floor and ceiling the week of the 11th. The master cabinetmaker A.J. , who is also doing some fine work for the Women’s Fellowship in the kitchen, has been working to rejuvenate the cabinets in the lower level commons area. We expect to see all work completed early in August. I hope everyone is as excited as we are to see the Sunday School area get a new face. I will be posting some pictures as the work progresses.
Here are pictures of the commons area…Painting had just begun.

July 23, 2010… The work is moving along very well thanks to our ambitious and pro-active Building and Grounds Ministry members. Everyone contributed to the preparatory work and planning but a special thanks must go to members; Laurie Gabrielson, who arranged for and supervised the painting, Mike Schultz, who acquired the bids for the ceiling work and helped to supervise the installation, and Jerry Snider, for the electrical work including installation of the new lighting fixtures.
A.J. Prepared the framework for the refurbished cabinets and he has installed one of the doors to give us an idea what the finished product will look like. Additional shelving units will be installed behind the door in the foreground and in the space at the far end of the unit. The 2 center units will have doors but they will be without shelves in order to allow space for the preschool "cubbies" and for hanging some of the Christmas Pageant costumes etc.
The fresh new ceiling has been finished in the lower level commons area as well as the hallway to the nursery and the long hallway to the garden room and kitchen area. It was necessary to lower the ceiling slightly (4 inches) to allow space for our fellow member and electrician, Jerry Snider, to install the new light fixtures. I think you will all be very pleased with the bright, cheerful space when we are finished.
Watch for later updates…the next phase should begin the first week in August and will include a bright, new tiled floor.

We are a vital church caring for people inside and out AND being good stewards dealing with necessary upkeep of the building without worshipping that building instead of worshipping God!
Kudos to B&G and kudos to our “web steward” for his renovation of the website!

Fantastic. It looks a lot more “modern”. I agree with your expression of “more cheerful”
